Strategic Plan 2007 Short Term Goals

1. To establish a formal recognized economic development alliance. To establish clear responsibilities, set a foundation for longevity, and establish credibility when dealing with other organizations or seeking funding.  2. To create a regional asset map that is centralized, user friendly and assessable To establish information that is useful in recruitment, marketing and promotion of Southwest Oklahoma. Collect information from communities regarding available commercial buildings/sites Trapper Heglin  
 To give communities a vehicle to map their individual assets, as well as, regional assets. Collect information from communities regarding educational opportunities    
  Collect information from communities regarding available natural resources    
  Publish information collected to a Southwest Economic Development Alliance website.   
  Create a community reporting sheet that includes: vacant commercial or industrial buildings, details about industrial parks, tourist attractions, and natural resources    
  Survey agencies that have already compiled the information to include in our map.    
  Create a community assets and liabilities information sheet.    
  Determine what assets are limiting.    
  Create a way to share assets among communities. Identify personnel with skills beneficial to the alliance    
  Document information on area infrastructure for zoning and planning   
  Find a business that can compile and publish the information    
 3. To create a regional marketing strategy that showcases our strengths and assets.To create community- specific and regional marketing campaigns.  Create a webpage for the alliance with links to each community webpage.   Dirk Webb   
 To create a plan to market the Oklahoma Southwest Alliance.  Analyze the alliance's current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats    
 To attract businnes/industry, tourist, other groups and alumni to the region.   Develop a marketing plan    
   Include all Chamber of Commerce personnel and presidents in the correspondence    
  Use Oklahoma Today as a resource    
  Assist communities in the development of a webpage to promote their own assets   
   Market to specific industries that fit the needs of our communities

 4. To establish value added agriculture industry in the region.  To improve the economy by creating opportunities to capture more profit for the local agriculture industry. Develop incentives to benefit potential value added agriculture industry  Open & looking!   
   Collect data on potential value added agriculture opportunities   
   Promote our agricultural resources   
   Develop a database of currently grown alternative crops    
   Create an opportuntiy to collect value added agriculture ideas   
   Develop a regional value-added agriculture project    
   Develop incentives to supplement incomes of entities wanting to develop a new product for agriculture.   
   Develop the agritourism industry   
   Develop a partnership with the agriculture staff at the technology centers   
   Actively partner to support agriculture and other areas politically   
   Create or locate existing agritourism data   
   Encourage true Freedom to Farm legislation    
   Develop venture capital for value added agriculture    
 5. To establish and strengthen cultural relationships/partnerships.  To insure inclusion and protect against exclusion.  Create a task force to develop potential partnerships between the Native Americans and OSA    Duke Tsoodle, Mal Bucholz & Connie Pender   
  To create partnerships that will benefit all parties.  Inventory the assets of the Native American Culture.   
  To promote tourism by marketing heritage. Inventory Western Oklahoma's heritage assets; historical buildings, landmarks, cattle trails, outlaws, outposts, and etc.    
   Develop partnerships to collect information from all groups within the alliance's boudaries.   
   Develop a trusting relationship with the Native American tribes    
 6. To create Certified Work Ready Communities and/or certify the entire OSA region.  To assist communities' job creation activities through a hirable workforce.  No details to date Carla Hall &
